Expedite Your Prospect E-mails (06/13/12)
Realcomp’s Prospect module is one of the most heavily used programs in the MLS system. Currently, there are over 190,000 prospect searches saved. Collectively, these prospects automatically generate hundreds of thousands of e-mail updates each week. Most of these are sent on Sunday nights and Monday mornings, at times creating a backlog on the system.
What is Realcomp doing to address this? In the short-term, we’re working to alleviate the issue through the addition of a newer, faster server. We’re also planning to modify the default day for weekly updates from Sundays to Wednesdays. Later this year, we’ll also introduce a new “Prospect Portal” for all Realcomp Subscribers, which will allow you to provide your customers and clients with instant anytime access to listing updates in the future.
Is there anything MLS Subscribers can do to help in the meantime? Yes, these four (4) things:
1. Keep your Prospects updated by removing inactive or outdated prospects from your files or by limiting the frequency of updates for contacts not actively searching for a home;
2. Set up any new Prospects to receive their e-mail updates on a different day (avoiding Sundays);
3. Consider changing the update day for your current prospects to a day other than Sunday (i.e. choosing Thursdays would allow your clients to receive fresh updates Friday morning before the start of the weekend); and
To change the update day, follow steps a-e below:
a) Log into Realcomp Online®
b) Click "Prospect"
c) Choose the prospect(s) you want to change and click "Edit"
d) Click "Weekly Updates" under "Email Frequency"
e) Click the "Drop-Down" arrow to choose the day to email updates on (i.e. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
4. When possible, avoid sending manual e-mail updates on Monday mornings.
